Mindfulness Meditations

Practising focusing attention, exercising our muscles of awareness and connecting, significantly increases our wellbeing. This is being human, and being mindful is a natural state, however, it isn’t always easy. This is why a course, is proven to be the most effective way of receiving the benefits of mindfulness practice.

Positively Mindful offers the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction programme as an online course and also an Introduction to Mindfulness courses at various locations in the UK. If you are interested in participating or have any suggestions or comments please do get in contact.

"The present moment is the only moment available to us and is the door to all moments."

- Thích Nhất Hạnh -

To start you on your journey of awareness, Positively Mindful has created some unique guided meditations, we invite you to listen and be with whatever arises, as best you can. Cultivating compassion for ourselves is paramount for any meditation practice, so if you find things difficult, move towards being kind to yourself, and notice how that unfolds.

Mindfulness is about non-striving, so there is no right or wrong way to do the practices. You are cultivating attitudes of non-judgement, acceptance, trust, letting go, beginner’s mind and patience and these take time to develop. Listen and notice your reactions, observe how you feel, your thoughts, sensations and emotions and keep practising.

“Freedom is not given to us by anyone; we have to cultivate it ourselves. It is a daily practice.”

MINDFULLY TAKING MEDICATION

When we ‘pop our pills’ usually only a small part of ourselves is actually occupied with taking our medicine. We are possibly only just aware of the physical sensations and even less attentive to our thoughts and emotions. When we purposefully stay with the experience of taking our medication, and cultivate mindfulness (non-judgement), we focus our attention on the present moment and increase our awareness of our relationship to our medication. By listening to this guidance, with our tablets and a drink of water, we can improve our body’s absorption and the effectiveness of the treatments we take as well as increasing adherence.
